board adopts new policy. suitable' MEN" FOR JOBS. ■ i (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary lSeporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Unemployment Board lias adopted a new policy in connection with the finding of work for men. In the past, if a man did not accept relief work, he was struck off the register, but now the public are to be invited to make their labour wants known to bureaux, and efforts will be made to find suitable men for any occupation mentioned.
The acting Minister of Employment, Jlr. J. A. Young, in making an announcement to this effect in the House of Representatives this morning, said private labour agencies might complain about this step, but it was felt that they had not been successful in placing men, and the board intended to make an effort to do so.
