BOXING CONTESTS.
N.Z. AND AUSTRALIA. — • EACH SIDE WINS TWO BOUTS C. GORDON AND G. MUIR VICTORS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) IN VERCARGILL, this day. Boxing contests between teams reprccscnling Australia and New Zealand were commenced last night, some excellent boxing being witnessed. Four bout* were staged, eacli side winning two. The Australians, however, were considered unlucky not to be leading by three wins to' one. The standard ot boxing among the lighter weights was particularly good. Eour more bouts will be fought this evening. Results o£ bouts decided last night:— Flyweight.—H. Cooper (Australia), 7.0, beat i!. Boyle (New Zealand), 7.X0, on points. Feather-weight.—C. Gordon (New Zealand), 8.12, neat J. Moore (Australia), S.lO, on points. Light-heavy-weight. —G. Muir (>\ew Zealand), 11.12, beat W. Burns (Australia), 11.8, on points. Welter-weight.—A. Warbrick (Australia), O.lOVi, beat W. G. Parris (New Zealand), 10.0, on points.
