AT TAKANINI.
The inside grass was available at Takar.ini this morning for fast work, and the going was in excellent order. Greek Gold and Nun Nicer were associated over six furlongß. The latter jumped away a couple of lengths in front, but Greek Gold was with him at the finish in 1.15 3-5. Ballymoney was allotted an easy sis furlongs, taking 1.21, the pace being on only over the last two furlongs. Matorni was not doing his best over five furlongs, the last half-mile taking 555. 'i ray Bit and Impasto finished together i.l the end of six furlongs in 1.15 —the 1 at of the morning. Impasto conceded 1 s companion a good start, and did his a jrk in good style, but Tray Bit also 1 ascd. Gay Blonde easily accomplished a mile in 1.51, and could have improved considerably on that time. She is in fine fettle for her Great Northern Guineas engagement on Saturday. Gay Sheik, who bears an improved appearance since racing at Paeroa, was let off with easy work. Havering ran a mile m 1.43 4-5, which was a good effort. He was assisted over the last five furlongs by Haupere, who was several lengths behind when the post was reached. Havering is working better since Ik- raced at Paeroa. Arch Ruler dashed over half a mile in 50s, and appears to be working as well as ever. Spearcourt and Lap Up were companions over half a mile in 49 l-ss—a good gallop for novices. Lifeguard displayed his customary speed while running five furlongs in 1.3. Gar Vaals hit out nicely over a couple of furlongs, but was not timed. Others to do useful work were Brown Abbey, Diversion, Memnon and Safari.
