DOUBLE FATALITY.

TRAIN CREW EXONERATED. ROCHFORT CROSSING SMASH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Wednesday. The adjourned inquest concerning the deaths of Messrs. J. Cunningham and F. Carroll, which occurred at the Rochfort railway crossing, on the OhakuneRangataua Road, on August 11, when the Ohakune-Raetihi train ran into a motor car containing three occupants, two of whom were killed and the third injured, was liekl at the Courthouse at Okahune before Mr. W. IT. Sandford, district coroner. Lengthy evidence was given by W. A. Curran, engine driver, A. H. Dean, lireman, L. E. Jordan, medical practitioner, H. J. Stevenson, acting railway guard, Constable Shields, Js T . Soull'lot and Miss L. A. Carroll. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony, and added that the evidence showed no negligence on the part of the train crew.
