AT THE GOLDFIELDS.

Picturesque Welcome Accorded The Duke.

MEETS ABORIGINES

PERTH, October 9. The Duke of Gloucester was given a most picturesque welcome at the goldlields city of Kalgoorlie to-day. At present there is a boom there, owing to mining activity. His Royal Highness also met a representative gathering of the aboriginal population, including black trackers, in colourful costumes. Later he inspected the leading mines and saw the elaborate processes for extracting gold. The Duke attended a school children's display and a race meeting and finally boarded a train for the transcontinental journey to Port Augusta, 200 miles south;west of Perth.
