GOVERNMENT STOCKS SELLING
COLONIAL SUGARS JUMP
Members of the Auckland Slock Ex- | change had a busy time tins morning, and a big list of s.iles was recorded at the 30 o'clock call. The market generally was buoyant. Government stocks changed hands practically at late rates, though the 1040 issue Avas agi'in neglected, being 011 oiler at £107 5/. with no buyers. Colonial Sugars promptly reacted to the latest announcement from head ollice, and buyers moved up to £70, but there were ]io sellers. Dominion banks were again in request, lioth Reserves and New Zealands advancing 3d, with sales at £0 9/9 and £2 0/ respectively. A new line to be offered in the pastoral section was Wincheombe, Carsons, for which £1 8/6 was offered. Bank of New Zealands Selling. Further business in Bank of New Zealand shares was put through at noon, and more were available at £2 9/, while buyers dropped back to £"2 8/0. Offers for Colonial Sugars were again advanced sharply, reaching £73, and still failing to bring any response from holders. Brewery shares were very firm, with sales of New Zealands at 3d higher, after which holders stood off, asking £2 10/0. Mining shares were in good demand. Brian Bonis, Matakis and Gillespie's Beach scrip being traded freely. Among Government securities the only change was a drop of 5/ in sellers' limits for the 19-10's, for which there were 110 oilers. Colonial Sugars reached a new high level as the result of the company's proposal to increase the nominal capital.
