Gladstone.—-This company reports having held several enjoyable hikes latelv when the members made lires and cooked their tea. A week-end was also recently spent at Otimai, which many of the guides were visiting for the first time. The Gladstone brownies, too. report an enjoyable outing, when Uiey visited the factory of Messrs. Heards, Ltd. They were shown over, and saw all kinds of sweets and chocolates being made. After that they went to Point Resolution Park and enjoyed games until it was time to go home. Provincial Annual Meeting.—The annual meeting of the Auckland Province will be held at the Y.W.O.A. on Monday October 15. Reports will be given of the various branches of guiding through the province, and a short programme, including a one-act play, is being arranged. Mr Dennis Johns, Scout Commissioner, is to give the address, ana Mrs. A. J. Friedlander will be in the chair. A wood attendance of committee members and guiders is expected. Brownies.—The bro.vnie first class examiners for the Auckland division are Misses J. Neill, P. Innes, M. Brown, M. Atkins, and N. Clarke. All brownies wishing to go for their first class must be examined by one of these guiders. A brownie totem, made, especially from "Waitangi" wood, has been given by Mrs. R. McCoinb to the browmrs of Auckland.' It has been decided that the brownies meet together at annual revels, and compete in handcraft and games for this totem. It will not tie possible to hold a revel this year, but you can look forward to one next year, brownies, after all the excitement of the rally ie- over. Divisional Secretary.—Miss C. M. Marks is now secretary for the Auckland City Division, and will be at headquarters' office in the mornings. All communications concerning the division should therefore be made through her. Mental Hospital.—Guides have been asked to collect magazine? as well as newspapers for the Mental Hospital. You can put the newspapers in the post, but the magazines will be called for if you bring them along to your company meeting. If each patrol takes it in turn to bring magazines each we n l: you will soon liave a good number. „ Let your district captain know when you want them collected. St. John Ambulance. —The Girl Guide Association is helping at the St. John Ambulance collection on Friday, October 19, and will take up their stand opposite the J.C.L. A few more helpers are needed. Will volunteers communicate with provincial headquarters. Committee members were lately shown over the St. John Ambulance station by Mrs. P. McGregor, who is willing i,o take others if they wish. .
