REFEREE ATTACKED.
WRESTLING AT PAIMBRSTON,
DETTON DEFEATED BY WALKER
(By Telegraph.—rress Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. In a wrestling contest last night George Walker beat Dean Detton by two falls to one in one of the most colourful matches seen here. Detton was very aggressive, and secured a fall in the second round, Walker equalising in the fourth round. At the beginning of the fifth Detton attacked the referee and tried to throw him out of the ring. Walker, acting as peacemaker, caught Detton in a toehold, allowing the referee to esc'ape. Detton, who had his head and shoulders outside the ropes, had the deciding fall given against him. Rising to his feet he hit the referee on the face, and was loudly hooted.
