STAFF DANCE.
AMALGAMATED- THEATRES.
The social and entertainment committee of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., held its third annual staff dance in the Rialto Ballroom last evening. The lounge and the dance hall were filled with members and guests, and special decorations included each cubicle being flanked with the names of the various theatres, set in panels of scarlet and glistening silver lettering. An energetic committee made the dance a success, and included: Miss May Vercoe, in black ring velvet; Miss Iris Hurfitt, black silk georgette; Miss Jocie Sayegh, black and silver stamped metal; Mrs. C. Kelly, black georgette; Messrs. Harold Lane, C. Ivempt, Tice Martin, VV. A. Malone, and D. Hopkins. A presentation took place during the evening, when 45 picture houses contributed to some beautiful presents for Miss Irene Meiklejohn, who has been with this firm since its opening." The guest of honour severed her connection with Amalgamated Theatres last evening, owing to her marriage. The staff,'s gifts were a canteen of cutlery and a large silver salad bowl. The firm presented a dinner and tea service and a large brass table. Many other gifts were received from friends. On arrival Mrs. M. A. Moodabe, who wore a beautifully cut black ring velvet, was the recipient of a bouquet of choice flowers. Mrs. Moodabe, sen., alio received a bouquet, and was in a black angel skin lace frock.
