MOTOR CYCLE NOTES.

JOHN BULL TRIAL.

ONLY NINE STARTERS.

FOUR GO ASTRAY.

Although the Auckland Motor Cycle Club tried to attract more competitors in the John Bull trial on Sunday by halving the entry fee, and making the event a 12-hour instead of a 24-hour trial, only 11 entries we*e received, and only nine riders started. Four of the riders —D. M. Robinson (Koval Enfield), W. Marett (8.5.A.), C. JDunlop (A.J.S.), and H. Stewart (Norton) —took the wrong road between Bombay and Waiuku in the iirst lap, and had to retire, as the time they would have lost in going back over their tracks would have put them out of the trial. All live who finished put tip very line performances, though the condition of the roads over some sections of the route made riding difficult. No tool boxes were opened, and no one lost more than 25 points. Those who finished were: — O. ITowlctt (Vcloccttc), lost 1 point.... 1 I'. Fletcher (A.J.S.), lost 5 points 2 W. Tetlcy (Harler-Davidson), lost 7 points 3 11. S. While (U.S.A.), lost !) points 4 L. retry (Velocette), lost -5 points... 5 GENERAL MEETING.
