SEPARATED COUPLES.
PETITIONS FOR DIVORCE.
GRANTED BY JUDGE,
Four divorce petitions, undefended, were granted in ttie Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Ostler. In each case his Honor made a decree nisi, to be moved absolute after the expiration of three months. Jessie Hethcriiigton Anderson sought a divorce from John Gustav Anderson on the grounds of separation by mutual consent. Petitioner, who was represented by Mr. W. Schramm, said she was married at Apia, Western Samoa, in 192:5, and lived with her husband at Apia and Auckland. There was one child of the marriage. There was trouble over her husband's drinking habits, and they decided to separate about the middle of November, 1930. Petitioner was given interim custody of the child. Separation by mutual consent was also the ground on which Hazel Florence Wood (Mr. J. F. W. Dickson) petitioned for a divorce from Reginald Charles Wood. Petitioner said she was married at Auckland on February 9, 1918, and there were three children of the marriage, which was happy for a time. However, on May 7, 1920, she and her husband decided to go their respective ways, and it was agreed that she should obtain a maintenance order for herself and the children. She obtained an order for £2 10/ a week, but she had never received the money from her husband, and had been working to support herself and children. Petitioner was given interim custody of the children. The story of a marriage which lasted for a few months only was told by Hilda Hart (Mr. Leslie C. Adams), who sought a dissolution of her marriage with Roland Louis Hart on the ground of separation by mutual consent. Petitioner said that she and respondent were married on November 10, 1928, and shortly afterwards went to live in Mel-, bourne. They did not "get on," and in February, 1929, decided to separate. After the separation she worked in Melbourne and her husband returned to New Zealand. Failure to comply with an order for restitution of conjugal rights was the ground on which Violet Lilian Gibson (Mr. Hall Skelton) successfully applied for a divorce from James Taylor Gibson. The parties were married on December 21, 1922, at Auckland, and have been living apart since May 30 of this year. Respondent had not complied with a Court order for his return.
