HARBOUR EXTENSION.
BIG PROGRAMME AT TIMARU.
(By Telegraph.—rress Association.) TIMARU, Saturday. Aft or considering reports by officers, the Timaru Harbour Board dccided that to decrease the range and increase the depth of water, thus making a mora efficient harbour, it was imperative to carry out a comprehensive dredging programme with the least possible delay. The board also decided to adopt the suggestions of the harbourmaster, Captain 11. G. White, to extend one mole, giving more turning room and protection in tho harbour. The estimated cost of the work is £43,000. The board has to secure official consent.
