LICENSE GRANTED.
PROSPECTING AT THAMES. CLAIM BY COMMISSIONER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. Block 27 prospecting claim was again the subject of contention in the Thames Warden's Court yesterday, when the warden, Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., granted a license to the borough commissioner, Mr. C. L. Grange, 011 behalf of the Prospecting Association, whose previous license was ordered to be forfeited by the Court on August 28 on the application of William Henry Hughes, 011 the ground that no work had been done on the claim in compliance with regulations. In decreeing forfeiture, the warden deemed Hughes to be the first applicant. The claim was not pegged by the applicant within the prescribed seven days, and it was accordingly pegged again on behalf of the association. The sequel was heard yesterday, when Hughes opposed the commissioner's application for another license. After hearing the evidence of both parties the warden said that after the judgment decreeing forfeiture the first applicant had seven days in which to liie his application, and lie had not done so. The ground became open, and Mr. Grange had repegged it. A license, therefore, must be granted to him.
