1 The PapaKura Ladies' Club medal round competition was played yesterday, and was won by Mrs. W. Brooks with a net score of SO. B. V. WRIGHT INDISPOSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)' WANGANUI, Monday. As he is suffering from influenza B. V. Wright will not be defending his amateur title at the national golf championships, which commence next week at Belmont. The entries so far total 114. MARLBOROUGH TITLE WINNER. The final of the Marlborough golf championship was played in calm, dull weather between James Jeffries (Marlborough) and Douglas. Wliyto (Wellington). The match produced some good golf, the feature being Whyte's magnificent driving and controlled shots. Jeffries failed in putting, usually 'his strong department. After being four down at the eighth, Jeffries pulled up well to bo one down at the thirteenth, but Whyte's wider tournament experience stood him in good stead and ho never faltered The winner did the round in U7, one under bogey, for tho first nine holes. This was the second year in succession in which Jeffries filled the role of runner-up to different Wellington players. TE AROHA CLUB. In tho intermediate championship of the Te Arolia Club, Harris beat J. Johnson, Sleep beat Hume, Goddard beat Meikle, and Mcl-aren beat; Wykes. In the senior semi-finals, Bateman defeated Goulding, 0 and 4 ; Penney defeated Matheson at the 10th.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union was held at the Lyceum Club last evening. Mre. H. S. Lawrence, of Chrietchureh, presided. It _ was decided to hold the next Dominion championship meeting on the Balmacewun Club's course at Dunedin. Delegates agreed that in the event of a ladies' team coming out from England a more central course would be chosen. The championship tournament would then be held on the Balmaccwan course the following year. Mre. Guy Williams was elected president of the union for the coming year. A cheque for £200 was handed to the union during the evening by Mrs. H. C. Melleop, whose late husband gave the original trophy for the best three scores registered in medal rounds played in the course of championships, in order that if it ever became necessary, a replica of the present cup could be purchased.
