BILL AMENDED.

PROTECTION OF PLANT. SCIENTIFIC BODIES ACT. As the result of representations from the Auckland Institute and War Memorial Museum, the Canterbury and the Wellington Philosophical Societies, the Native Plants Protection Bill is to be amended so that it will, in the opinion of- the bodies mentioned, better fulfil the functions for which it was introduced. Correspondence on the subject was read at a meeting yesterday of the council of the Auckland Institute. The Canterbury body liad passed resolutions, the text of which was that the bill should be deferred in order that scientific bodies should be allowed to make representations.
