Along the jGreat Barrier reef the turtles arc captured for soup making, by men employed b'y canneries. '' The creatures are intercepted when on their way back from egg-laying to the sea, and simply turned over on their backs in which position they are helpless, and left on the beach until required. It takes two men to turn a good sized turtlo over, for the creatures weigh anything up to 6001b.
