BLEDISLOE CUP.

AN AMATEUR TROPHY.

VISIT OF ENGLISH TEAM,

His Excellency the Governor-General,J Lord Bledisloe, has offered the council of the New Zealand Golf Association a challenge cup for annual competition. The council was pleased to accept his Excellency's offer, and the cup will be known as the Bledisloe Cup, and will be held from year to year by the amateur player who roturns the best aggregate score in the four rounds of the open championship, [t it will be contested for for the first time at Wanganui on October 5, 6 and 8, and without doubt it_ will add interest to the open championship amongst the amateurs who are competing. The secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association, Mr. G. O. Sutton, received on the 9th instant a cablegram from Mr. Arthur Sims, of Christchurch (at present in London) stating that all mempers of the Royal and Ancient Golf team visiting Australia, including Mr. Henry Gullen, the secretary, who will be manager of the team, agree to visit New Zealand, and that the Australian itinerary is not yet fixed, but Mr. Sims hopes to cable again in a week's time.
