MISS GAISFORD DEFEATED. | THE AUBTRAUAN FINAI*. MRS. KOBINSON WINS, 4 AND 3. SYDNEY, September 11/ The final of the Australian ladies' golf championship, played to-day on the Royal Sydney Club's links over 36 holes, resulted in Mrs. C. Robinson (New South Wales) defeating Bessie Gaisford (New Zealand), 4 and 3. Finishing the morning round all square with the New Zealand star, who was leading 1 up at the ninth hole, Mrs. Robinson played superbly in the afternoon, and at the thirty-first hole had a commanding lead of 4 up. In ideal weather, about 1500 people saw the match. Miss Gaisford played faultlessly prior to going to luncheon, but during the afternoon she had the misfortune on a number of occasions either to. land in rain-filled bunkers or at the lips of holes. Mrs. Robinson's play being of such a high standard, Miss Gaisford could not afford to make slips. Miss Gaisford consistently out-drove her opponent. Both played their seconds and approaches beautifully. „ , , . Mrs. Robinson, however, frequently had a putting advantage on the greens.
