BIG "WALK OUT."
STRIKE INEVITABLE. Attempts to Stop American Dispute Fail. TEXTILE INDUSTRY. 4 (t'nitcd ) '.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 2 p.in.) WASHINGTON, August 20. The textile strike, involving nearly .1,000,000 workers, appeared inevitable to-day as the mill operators declined the N.lv.A. invitation to meet with the union representatives to consider a compromise. As the "walk-out"' is called for Saturday there is little likelihood that 'even if a meeting is called agreement could be readied in such a short time. The unionists have expressed the hope that the strike would be orderly, but charged the operators with importing strike-breakers and private officers in largo numbers apparently in anticipation of violence.
