COMPANY AFFAIRS.
GREY AND MENZIES. MORE HOPEFUL OUTLOOK. At the annual meeting of shareholders in Grey and Menzies, Ltd., held yesterday, the chairman of directors, Mr. T. B." Clay, stated that the affairs of the company were eminently satisfactory and that the year's trading could be considered as most encouraging for, in spite of the adverse weather conditions experienced during the summer, and also the continued restriction of the spending power of the public, considerable improvement had been effected. In view of the recent legislation affording some measure of relief from taxation and the evidence of an upward tendency in the wages level, the company looked forward to a greater output. Feeling reference was made by the chairman to the death of the late chairman, Mr. A. B. Roberton, who was a director of the company for 31 years, and chairman for 20 years. Messrs. R. R. Menzies and T. B. Clay were re-elected directors. The report and balance-sheet, details of which were published in the "Star" on August 22, were adopted, and a dividend of 7 per cent was declared on preference shares, being arrears for 1932.
