ALL BLACKS.

WELCOMED BACK.

TRIP WAS "RUSH AFFAIR."

ATTSTRAIitkN RUGBY

IMPROVED.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day.

On their return from Australia by. the Wangaiiella this morning, the All Blacks were met by Mr. S. ■ S. Dean,' chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, and other officials of both the Dominion and Wellington unions.

The tourists are not dismayed at having left the Bledisloe Cup behind, recognising that Rugby in Australia has improved, and that the visit —with its results —will give added stimulus to the Union code in Australia.

It is considered that the trip was a "rush affair," and this placed the team somewhat under a handicap, especially in facing the second Test. Oh the day of that match the players had to hustle round making all their preparations to leave the snme night for New Zealand. Then they had to take the field, and leave directly afterwards on the return trip.

Another unfortunate circumstance was ill a t the side was hard hit by influenza. A further difficulty was in the interpretations of rules by Australian referees, many of which the team found hard to understand. Despite all these disadvantages, the merit of Australia's performance is generally acknowledged by the team, the members of which spoke highly of the unbounded hospitality accorded to them everywhere durinsr the tour.

D. S. Max (Nelson) and M. M. N. Corner (Auckland) have not yet fully recovered from influenza, while A. Knight (Auckland) has burst a blood vessel in a leg.

The touring side will not disband until after to-morrow's match at Athletic Park with the Rest of New Zealand.
