BREWERY SHARES EASY. COLONIAL SUGARS FIRM. Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange keeps up well. At this morning's call there was free bidding for a wide range of securities. New Zealand Breweries failed to hold the full extent of the recent sharp advance, and a sale was put through at £2 7/6, after which the market stood at £2 7/3 and £2 8/. Reserve Banks also cased a little, with quotations between i'G .0/ and £0 9/9. New Zealands had buyers at £2 7/ and sellers Od higher. In Government stocks there was a slight easing in the '40- issue. A sale was made 2/0 lower, at £10S. after \vhich holders stood at £108 26, and buyers stopped at £107.15/. Insurances were steady and firm. A parcel of, was available at. £3 12/6. • ' ,', Recent firmness in Colonial Sugars was confirmed with a sale at £C 6 5/, a rise of , £1 15/ this month. In the unlisted section Woohvorths (Sydney) "made a slight recovery with a sale at £3 9/. Advance, in Values. ; Values advanced at several points in the noon turnover of business, and the market showed a healthy tone. Standard .Insurance, following the recent publication of the annual accounts, have been firm, and changed hands at 1/9 above last sales. Auckland Gas continued their improvement, and- were active at a penny higher, at which more w-ere available. Buyers remained in-at-£l 5/5. Northern Steam gained 3d, ,and later sellers carrie in • at 1/9 after buyers had quoted 1/5. Consolidated Brick made a further small rise, and closed between 0/7 and 10/0. Gear Meat rose sharply with a transaction at 2/ above their previous value, and latest buyers offered £1 5/6, with sellers at £1 7/. Goldsbrough, Morts were in demand at £1 11/2, and holders stood firm at £1 12/. Margins : were narrowed in the mining section, and only a halfpenny separated brokers for Goldfields Dredging and Mataki shares.
