TEN THOUSAND FEWER ABOUT 5000 ON SUSTENANCE RETURNS FOR AUGUST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Unemployment Board's return reveals an increase of 1818 in the number of persons receiving assistance from the Unemployment Fund as at August 4, compared with the previous month. There is, however, a substantia! decrease of 10,515 when the present total of G2.451 is compared with the corresponding total on August 5 last year. The figure, of 02.451 is made up as follows: — Kocciving part-time relief under No. 5 Scheme 33.3-0 Receiving sustenance without work -1.074 Engaged in industrial undertakings with assistance by way of subsidy 24,137
