ANNUAL FUNCTION.
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE. In honour of the Country Justices of the Peace, wlio are visiting Auckland for the Winter Show, an enjoyable social was given by the Auckland Justices of tho Peace Association last evening, when a large assemblage gathered in the reception hall of the Farmers' Trading Company. The -guests were received by the president, Mr. Donald Donaldson, and his daughter, Miss Clarice Donaldson, the latter wearing a frock of black singa crepe, and pink floral corsage. i Sir Alexander Hcrdman was tho guest of honour, while other special guests included Mr. Justice Fair, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., Mr. Arthur Rosscr, president of the Federation of New Zealand Justices, and Mr. A. J. Stratford, registrar of tho federation and past president of tho Auckland Justices of the Peace Association. Addresses of welcome were given by the president and Mrs. M. Dreaver. Sir Alexander Herdman expressed his interest in the aims of tho association. Messrs. Kosser, Stratford, J. W. Bissett, Patterson and Charles Wheeler also addressed the guests. The musical programme which was heartily applauded, was rendered by Mrs. Harold King, Mrs. Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Corn well, Messrs. L. Barnes and M. Guthrie. , The supper tables were arranged with slender vases of Iceland poppies and light winter foliage. Among those present were: Mesdames E, 11.
