LOST ON EVEREST.

Reported Death of Forbidden Climber. FATE OF MAURICE WILSON. CALCUTTA, July 19. The former British Army captain, Maurice Wilson, who slipped out of Darjecling a few weeks ago to make a forbidden lone attempt to climb Mount Everest, has lost his life near camp No. 4, at a height of 22,990 feet, which was established by last year's expedition. Wilson was accompanied only by three porters, ono of whom ho left behind as he contracted dysentery. The remaining two went with him to camp No. 3. Wilson gavo them instructions to wait a fortnight and pressed on alone. Tho climber took a small tent, three loaves of bread, two tins of porridge and a camera. Tho porters waited a month and then returned to Darjeeling. It is believed that Wilson perished either in a treacherous crevasse or beneath an avalanche.
