PASSING SHOWERS AND HAIL.
(By Telejrraph.— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Though an intense anti-cyclone has developed over south-eastern Australia and i«s moving slowly eastward, pressure has not risen over New Zealand and is very low to the east. The situation, therefore, still favours strong southwesterly winds.
The forecast is for strong southwesterly winds to gales, weather cold, equally and changeable, . with passing showers and hail in places. Seas heavy Qii west coast, rough on east coast.
WEATHER IN HAURAKI GXTLT.
The following report of weather conditions in the Hauraki Gulf was received from Tirit iri Island at noon to-day: Wind, south-west, strong to gale at times; sea rough; weather cloudy, with frequent heavy rain squalls; conditions boisterous generally; visibility fair; barometer has a rising tendency.
