(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, June 26. Although rain marred play in the series of English county cricket matches which ended this afternoon, five games reached finality. The outstanding result was the overwhelming defeat of Yorkshire, champions for the previous three seasons, by Sussex, runners-up in 1932 and 1933. The match was played at Sheffield. James Langridge, nine for 34, and A. F. Wensley, five for 46, did some fine bowling for the winners. Yorkshire were minus the services of M. Leyland, H. Verity and W. E. Bowes, three outstanding players in the second Test at Lord's. Centuries were scored by J. Arnold, Hampshire; J. A. Cutmore, Essex; A. E. Alderman, Derby; J. E. Timms, Northants; A. Sandham and E. W. Whitfield, Surrey; N. S. Mitchell-Innes, Oxford University. Harold Larwood was responsible for a fine double against Worcester, 53 runs and seven wickets for 51. Results: — , Hampshire: First innings, 305 (Arnold 127); second, 149 (Evans five for 46). Essex: First innings, 301 (Cutmore 104; Kennedy seven for 73); second, one for 154. Essex won by nine wickets. Glamorgan: First innings, 331 (E. Davies 84); second, five for 124, declared. Somerset: First innings, 228; second, one for 46. Glamorgan won on the first innings.

Middlesex: First innings, 260 (Enthoven 95).. Gloucester: First innings, three for 07. The game was drawn. Derby: First innings, 238 (Alderman 115.); second, seven for 221, declared (Townsend 85).
