DROWNING VICTIM.

TAKAPUNA FATALITY. 1 . ' r BODY IDENTIFIED. Late yesterday afternoon a city hotelkeeper visited the morgue and there identified the body of a man which was found on the beach on .Sunday at the foot of Brett Avenue, Takapuna, as that of Mr. John Hodgson, aged about 70, who recently came from Russell. The inquest was opened by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., this morning and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been taken.

A message received ' from Whangarei this morning states that the deceased was a widower, residing at Russell, and that it was not known'whether he had any relatives. He left for Auckland about June 2 to attend the races.
