ROYAL COMMISSION.

NAVAL OFFICER'S SUICIDE. (Received 11.30 a.m.) CANBEEEA, this day. On the recommendation of the Minister of Defence, Sir George Pearce, the Federal Cabinet has decided to appoint a Royal Commission to investigate the invaliding and discharge of LieutenantCommander A. D. Casey, from the Royal Australian Navy. The officer took his life after he had been discharged, and his relatives have since sought an inquiry into the circumstances of his dismissal which, it is claimed, contributed to his death. Lieutenant-Commander Casey received no compensation when dismissed.
