HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT
The Department of Agriculture , hae received the following cablegram, dated June 23, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:
Tallow.—Poor demand at auction; 956 casks offered of which 165 sold at 6d to 1/ per cwt decline on the prices ruling at the Inst auctions. Present epot quotations are: Mutton, fine, 21/6 to 22/6 per cwt; fair to good, 17/6 to 21/; dark to dull, ID/G to 16/; beef, sweet and/or mixed, 18/ to 19/6; fair to good, 16/ to 17/6; dark to dull, 15/ to 15/6; mixed, fair to good, 16/ to 17/; dark to dull, 15/ to 15/6; gait, etc., 14/6 to 15/6. Hemp.—Manila: Market dull and unchanged. Sisal: Market easier under selling pressure. July-September shipment sold at £15 12/6; closing sellers £15 10/. New Zealand: Market nominal and unchanged. Fruit.—Rangitata and Port Gisborne discharging fruit in prood condition. Mahia, Fordecjnle, Port Wellington, and Rotorua discharging next week. Apples.—Slow market at the following prices: Ballarat, 7/ to 11/; Cleopatra and Delicious. 6/ to 8/6; Dougherty, 8/ to 9/6; Dunn's Favourite. 6/ to 8/; Granny Smith. B'6 to 12/6: London Pippin, 5/6 to 7/6; Newtown Pippin, 7/ to 8/; Rome Beauty, 7/6; Statesman, Jonathan, and Stunner, 6/ to 0/j Scarlet Nonpareil, 7/6 to 8/6; others. 6/ to 7/6. Pears. — Winter Nelie. 10/ to 15/; Josephine. 12/ to 14/; P. Barry, 10/ to 13/.
BRADFORD TOPS FIRM. I (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. Bradford tops arc firm, especially the finer qualities. There is only a small turnover of business. WHEAT FUTURES. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, June 25. Wheat cargoes are firm, and parcels are also meeting with a good demand at 3d to 6d dearer. Futures: —London: June delivery, 18/10 per quarter; September, 19/9; December, 21/1. Liverpool: July, 4/BVi per cental: October, 5/; December, 5/2%; March, 5/3%. APPLES FIRM IN LONDON. (Received 10 n.m.) LONDON, June 25. Prices of apples are firm. The Rangitata's shipment of New Zealand apples has realised as follows: —Granny Smith, 8/6 to 12/6; Stunners, 6/6 to 7/9; Delicious, 6/ to 7/; pears (three-quarters), Barry, IV to 13/6.
