Hunter, Commissioner of Transport; is at the Station Hotel. Mr W. H. Cummer leaves for Wellington by the express this afternoon. Mr. \. 11. Johnstone, K.C, leaves for Wellington by the Limited this evening. Mr M J. Savage, Leader of the Opposition, goes South by the Limited evening. Mr W P. Endeaii, M.P. for Parnell, leaves for Wellington by the Limited this evening. Mr 4.. Grayeon, president of the A.A., returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. The Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C., and Mrs. Bloodworth, leave for Wellington by the Limited this evening. Mr. E. H. Northcroft leaves for Wellington by the Limited this evening to attend the sitting of the Court ot Appeal. Mr W D. Armit, Commissioner o£ Crown Lands for North Auckland, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. A. I\. Portcnns, sub-inspector of the Bank of New Zealand, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning and sailed by the Aorangi. Dr. J. Carmalt-Jones has been appointed chairman of the professorial boiird of the University of Otago, following the resignation of Dr. K. J. 1". Bell. Mr. C. M. Croft, Canadian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, left by the Aorangi to-day on a business visit to Suva. He will be absent about a fortnight. The Rev. L. McMaster, of Christchurch, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Entrkan, of Mount Albert, for a, few days, returned South by the Limited last evening. Squadron-Leader T. M. Wilkes, Director of Air Services, who arrived from Wellington yesterday morning, left again for the South by the Limited last evening.
Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Railways Board, who returned by the Aorangi yesterday from a business tour of Australia, left for Wellington by train yesterday. Captain W. F. Vertigler, who resigned from the command of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition ship Jacob Ruppert on account of illness, left for Vancouver by' the Aorangi to-day. Mr. TV Brook, Valuer-General, is to retire from the Public Service at the end of the present month, states a Press Association message from Wellington. Mr. Brook has had 43 years' service. Major C. H. Coehram, of the 7tli Ghurka Rifles, who arrived by the. Wanganella from Sydney last week, sailed by the Aorangi to-day on his way to England to spend the remainder of his leave. Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P. for Franklin, Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, Mr. P. W. Schramm, M.P. for Auckland East, and Mr. A. J. Murdoch, M.P. for Marsden, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening.
