THE NEW COMPETITIONS. GRAMMAR, COLLEGE; RIFLES AND MARIST GO DOWN. GRADIxNGS FOR SECOND ROUND. Representatives of Rugby football clubs were present yesterday at a special meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby , Union called i'or tbe purpose of grading the teams for the I second round of tlie senior competitions. To avoid any misconeepuwi regarding the procedure fro be adopted in the second round of the senior competition, it was decided to advise that the method to come into operation at the opening of the round next Saturday is as follows: — (.1) Of the nine teams which competed ill the first round, the six leaders, Manukau, Graf ton, i'onsonby, Otahuhu, Technical Old Boys and University ■ will constitute the new A division and, counting championship points scored ill the first round, shall proceed to play a full second round, the winner to. be declared the winner of the. season's senior championship and the Gallaher Shield. In this connection, although University and Grammar Old Boys finished equal in the championship points at the end of the first round, the former had a better record of points for and against, mid wan consequently admitted to the senior J\ section. (2) The new B or second division for the second round will thus comprise Murist, College Rifles and Old Boys from the A section, and Eden. North Shore and Grammar Old. Boys B from the B section. To.determine which team shall be the winner of this B, or ! second, division, the above six teams shall retain the championship points won in the first round, and shall play a full 1 second round. The team with the most ' championship points at the end of the second round shall be declared the winners of the B, or second, division, and the Thistle Cup. Regarding which team shall enter the A division at the commencement of the 1035 season, the team having the' greatest number of championship points, counting the second round only, shall be the team to be promoted to the A division in 1935. (3) The remaining teams of this seasons B section. University B, Technical Old Boys B. Manukau B, Parnell and Eastern Suburbs, shall constitute a new C section, and shall play a second round similar to the B division, each team starting with the championship points gained in the first-round, and the winner shall be the team gaining the greatest number of championship points at the conclusion of the round. . ■ . ■ (4) The lowest five teams of the a, or second, division, together with the two leading teams in the 'C section at the end of the 1034 season, shall form the senior B, or second, division at the commencement of the 1935 season. (5) The lowest three teams in the C section at the end of the second round shall revert to and play in the first junior grade in the 1935 season. (6) The number of teams in the senior grade at the commencement of the 1035 season will, in accordance with the foregoing, be limited to 14, divided into two sections of seven teams each. Admission after that date can only be had (a) to the A division by the winner of the B division defeating the lowest team in the A division in a match to be arranged after the conclusion of the season's championship; (b) to the B division by the winner of the first junior championship defeating the lowest team in the senior B division in a match to be arranged after the conclusion of the season's championship.
