BAD TASTE.
Tlic wave of bad taste, for which the current season lias been remarkable, i-s extending to women's dresses for Ascot, says the fashion editress of the "Evening News." Recalling their Majesties' displeasure recently at sonic court dresses, she points out that, although there are no official regulations regarding Ascot, tin; King and Queen expect ladies in thn Royal enclosure to be dressed in good taste. Sun-bathing frocks, with braces and high necks, are considered unsuitable, and anyone appearing in such an extreme fashion would run the risk of the authorities taking her name for the purpose of blacklisting her, which would mean that she would never again be invited. It is recalled that a few years agf> a lady appeared in the Royal enclosure wearing a sailor hat with her Christian name embroidered in gold on a blue band. She was not invited again. The fashion writer of the "Daily Mail" regrets that Ascot threatens to backslide into a fancy dress parade.
