The Harvest of Our Campaign

FULFILMENT OF WENDY'S HOPES. AUCKLAND SCHOOLS' SPLENDID GIFTS. TO-DAY'S TOTAL, 3000 SUNSHINE PATCHES. "Inasmuch as jje do this unto one of the least of these m\> brethren ye have done it unto Me." Sunbeams Mine, — There is such excitement in Sunshine Land that Peter Pan and I hardly know which way to turn. Patches and patches and patches! Eight hundred actually in one morning. Just think of it, girls. Ah, my dear busy little Sunbeams, I hardly know how to thank you—l hardly know what to say to those crowds of eager little people at Gladstone Schrfol and Otahuhu School, who, for weeks past, have been so busily knitting for Wendy. This morning Peter Pan arrived at the office to find everything in a flutter of excitement and Wendy almost skipping with joy. "Six hundred patches," I managed to gasp, by way of explanation. "Six hundred patches, three quilts and a big bundle of clothes from the Standard 11. girls at Gladstone School, Mount Albert." Goodness me, no wonder I was skipping with joy. In a covering letter their teacher explained that during the month of May these busy Standard 11. Sunbeams held a patch competition. A kindly grown-up offered a prize to the pupil who handed in the largest number of patches, and, would you believe it, Sunbeams, the winner, Betty Ryan, actually contributed two hundred and twenty-three! Well done, Betty, dear! Peter Pan and I are truly proud of you and your little classmates. Excitement was still simmering in Sunshine Land when in came "Postie" almost staggering under the weight of great big parcel from the Standard 1.-IV. pupils of the Otahuhu Primary School This contained nearly 200 patches. Even now I can hardly believe it. Eight hundred patches in one morning seems almost too good to be true. Thank you all so very much my Otahuhu Sunbeams. This same momentous morning brought me a tiny letter from "Four little ones and their mother." "Please accept the enclosed patch towards your very good work," ran the letter, and pinned to it was a £1 note. A very sincere thank you to this little family for their truly welcome gift. And now, Sunbeams, I can imagine you are simply bursting with impatience to hear, news of David and Janet and baby Robin. It's too bad that I must disappoint you, but the Budget goes to press so early that I simply have not heard yet of the ways in which you all intend to rally to their help.
