MAE WEST'S GUARDS.
TWO VIGILANT "SHADOWS."
Because of recent rumours of attacks on Mae West, a strict "no-visitors-allowed" ruling is in force on the "set" of her new picture, "It Ain't No Sin." Since her defiance of gangsters and the wave of kidnapping threats which is sweeping Holly wood, the blonde star is being watched wherever she goes. There are armed guards at the doors of the "set" and Miss West is always accompanied to her dressing room by two stalwart bodyguards who must not let her out of their sight. No one is allowed to go on the "set" without a special permit, which is obtainable only after considerable delay. Players in the film have been issued special passes. As soou as the star has finished work for the day she is accompanied to her new armoured car, which takes her straight home. Her two bodyguards sleep in the house and periodically during the night make a tour of the premises. If Miss West decides to go to a theatre, a dance or a party in the evening, her two "shadows" change into evening dress and are never far away. The precautions will not be relaxed until Miss West's personal safety.assured.
