BADMINTON.
THE DART SHIELD.
I'AKNELL DEFEAT REMUEKA,
An interesting 1 and close badminton match between Parnell (present holders of the Dart Shield) and Remuera, resulted in a win for Parnell by the narrow ltiargin of 7 rubbers to 5. Unexpected defeats of Southen and Griffiths, Parriell's tirst pair, by both Hull and Taylor, and Dr. Spencer and Mansergli, upset "calculations. As.the Misses Harrison (Remuera) were only defeated by Misses Sutherland and Hooper by one point, Parnell experienced many anxious moments. Every rubber was keenly contested, and the result of the match , was in doubt until the filial game was concluded. Remuera arc to be congratulated on their wonderfully improved Showing. MORRINSVILLE STILL UNBEATEN,
The first round of the Waikato Badminton Association's A grade championship competition was completed this week, when Morrinsville A and Hamilton, the two unbeaten teams, met. Morrinsville won a keeflly-corftested match by 7 games to 5, but had to light hard all the way, four of the games they won going to 21 —20. Morrinsville are thus the only unbeaten team in the competition, having scored wins over the other three teams, while Hamilton have been beaten only by Morrinsville. An interesting fact is .that the Morrinsville Club's A team has not lost a "match since the Waikato inter-club, competitions were started three years ago. ■,
