WHANGAREI NOTES.

Mrs. C. McKinley arrived home last Saturday after spending a week in Auckland with her father, who lias been very ill. A very jolly time was spent on Thursday, June 21, at Atherton House, when Mr. and Mrs. P. Armstrong entertained some 30 guests, to celebrate the coming-of-age of Miss Joyce Armstrong. The evening was spent in dancing. During the evening a dainty supper was served, a feature of which was a handsome birthday cake, witli appropriate decorations. Toasts were enthusiastically honoured, and good wishes were conveyed to the guest of honour, and also to the host and hostess for a most enjoyable evening. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" after midnight was the finish of a very happy occasion.
