SHARP RISE IN KAURIS,

Only three sales were recorded at the morning sale, and tiie tone of the bidding Wiis etill slow. One feature of interest, liowevcr, was a sharp rise ot' Sd in lvauri Timber shares, compared with last Monday's sales. Inquiries were numerous, and buyers remained in at 10/10, while holders raised their limits to 17/6. In the banking section slightly better offers of £2 7/7 were made for New Zealands, and sellers were unchanged at £2 !)/. Commercials continued to be weak, with quotations at 15/10 al| d 10/3. Further business was done in New Zealand Insurances, after which buyers were only 3d lower and holders were 9d above the market price. Cioldsbrough, Morts were easier, with best oilers reduced to £1 10/ and holders still at £1 11/. Among industrials most interest continued to be shown in Bycrofts, Farmers Trading (of which the 13 preference shares were traded at firm values), Milne and Chovce's and New Zealand Refrigerating. Offers were slow for Waihi Mines, and brokers were standing apart, with buyers at £1 12/3 and sellers 1/ higher. Grand Junctions were quoted at 4/1 and 4/2.
