PADLOCK BROKEN.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY.
RING TAKEN FROM HOUSE,
An attempt to break into a secondhand dealer's shop at 02, Jervois Road, Ponsonby, was made some time last night, but was unsuccessful. A padlock was broken from the front door. A thief visited a house in Arthur Street, Ponsonby, and stole a ling. As far as is known nothing else was taken. The house next door was also entered, but nothing is believed to have been taken. It was also reported to the police this morning that last night an attempt had been made to break into the premises of Elwoods, Ltd., condiment manufacturers, at the corner of Abbotsford and Roxburgh Streets, Newmarket. A window at the back of the premises was broken, but cntranco to the factory was not gained, and it is thought that juveniles were probably responsible.
