DOG TRIALS IN SOUTH.

The South Islam! sheep-dog trial championships were continued to-day at Middlemarch in misty, drizzling weather, which affected the work of the dogs. Tho first event of the programme, head, pull and hold in ring, was completed yesterday afternoon, and resultetl: —J. R. Anderson's (Kaunna) Boss. 125 points, 1; C. H. Smith's (Oamaru) Chance, 124, 2; C. H. Smith's Moss, 120J, 3: John Anderson's (Kurow) Toby Again, 119. 4: L. 11. Tilson's (South Otago) Don and ,T. B. Qneale's (Southland) Trim, 115, equal, 5; J. Anderson's (Kurow) Toby Junior, 7: A. T. Miller's' (Clifden) entry, 8. Fifty dogs competed.
