MODEL YACHTING.
MANUKAU SENIOR CLUB. ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT. The Manukau Senior Model Yacht Club held its second annual distribution of prizes last evening in' the Kelvin Hall, Queen Street, Onehunga. Tha function took the form of a social and dance under the direction of the commodore, Mr. C. Bartlett, and Mr. A. S. Wood, honorary secretary. There was a good attendance, including* representatives from the city clubs. Mr. .T. Park, patron of the club, before presenting the prizes, congratulated the officers arid members on the success of the past season. Racing was carried out on twelve dars, all events being well contested. especially the long distance race. The inter-club contest with the Ponsonby Club was again carried out in the most friendly spirit, and although the Ponsonby Club was the victor, he knew that the Manukau members intended to build more boats this year and try and wrest the laurels from their visitors. Mr. Park read a letter from Mr. V. ,T. Dickinson, commodore of the Otago Model Yacht Club, who had been a visitor at two of their races, wishing the club a good season and thanking them for their hospitality. He hoped at some future date to see an inter-provin-cial model yacht contest. The principal prize-winners were : Murray Cup for fastest time, Maybee, Mr. Davis; 4ft. championship, Kauri 11., Mr. G. Park; 3ft championship, Silver Belle, Mr. L. C. Better; Donald Cup for the Park onedesign class, Kauri 11., Mr. O. P ' r . , r / j risoru-Cup. Falcon, Mr. L. C. Rptter ; David Cup, Mavbee. Mr. Davis: points shield and flag. Kauri 11., Mr. G. Park; trophy, presented by Mr. J. Moore, member of the Roval Clyde Model Yacht Club, Supplejack, Mr. C. Bartlett. Other prize-winners were: Homo, Mr. Evans; Ace, Mr. Siebert: Emerald. Mr. R. N. Tatersall; A. and G Mr. J. Bishop. Mr. Wilkinson, on behalf of the citv clubs, congratulated Manukau on the fine array of trophies and com- | mended the Park one-design class to the , consideration of all clubs-a_s suitable for, inter-club or inter-provincial racing. | After supper dancing was resumed till : midnight.
