Adverse comment on the action of the Government in spending a large sum of money 011 the Eglinton Valley Eoad to Milford Sound, which waa used mostly for pleasure, notwithstanding that unemployment fluids were to be utilised, was made at a meeting of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce to-day, and it was suggested a protest to tlio Government should be made. Speakers said it required £300,000 to put tlie Napicr-Wairoa railway line in order, but the Government was spending £250,000 on a road merely for a scenic route.
