SOUTHERN EXCHANGES.
GILT-EDGED NEGLECTED. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Although there were not many price changes at the first call to-day the general indications pointed to a slight weakening tendency. This is probably a reflection of the special interest taken in mining scrip across the Tasman, which lias resulted in Government and other gilt-edged stocks being somewhat neglected. At tbis morning's call the bank section was quiet, and Commercials were not quoted on either side, a very unusual circumstance. Unions were available 2/0 cheaper, at £9 17/6. f New' Zealand Breweries were quoted wide,; with buyers at £2 1/ and sellers asking 2/ higher. Dominion Fertilisers maintained their recent strength between 18/4 and 18/11. In the inining section Big Rivers were a little better, with buyers at 10% d.
