GREAT SOUTH ROAD.

Further work on the reconstruction of the Great South Road between Papa - kura and Bombay was started last week. The extremely bad corner at the old 28-mile peg immediately south of the Bombay deviation is the scene of activity. The road is being taken in 12ft 011 the corner, and the spoil from the bank is being thrown 011 tho opposite side of the road at the foot of the hill. On account of the steam excavator and motor lorries used in connection with the work, the A.A. advisee motorists to take extreme care, particularly those travelling from the south, as in this direction visibility ie partially obscured. Details are almost finalised for extensive works on the remaining portion of the road, and those, when completed, will provide the new alignment which J is eventually to be permanently tsur- j faced. j
