SWORDFISH CLUB.
STORMY ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) RUSSELL, Monday. The ruling of the president that five new members, who had paid their subscriptions, could not vote led to the annual meeting of the Bay of Islands Swordfish and Mako Shark Club being adjourned, after an uproar. The club's year ended on May 31. Practically all the local members attended the meeting, and also the five new members. When the president, Mr. A. E. Bisset, adhered to his ruling, despite vigorous opposition, members rose in various parts of the hall as if to leave. The chairman, during tho confusion, vacated the chair, saying that he would have nothing more to do with the club, and he left the building. Mr. Maurice Ashton, one of the newlyelected vice-presidents, was immediately elected to the chair, and he adjourned the meeting for seven days. In reference to. the dispute, rule 3 of the club reads:—"The club shall consist of persons who pay the season's subscriptions." Rule 6, relating to the general meeting reads:—"As the club's year ends on May 31, the annual general meeting shall be held during the month of June in each year, at such time and place as the committee may appoint."
