SHELL MARKS AND KNIFE CUTS.—Microscopic photographs of a .22 shell show clearly the striker marks, one cartridge having been fired from a Browning automatic and the other from a Walther. On the right are clearly shown ridges made by a penknife stroke, the blade of which is shown below. The shell marks and the knife cuts have been enlarged 44 diameters and the blade itself has been enlarged to a lesser degree.
