DOZENS OF BILLS.
AMERICAN CONGRESS HUSTLES. WASHINGTON, June 17. ■ A carefully plotted bi-partisan plan for Congress to complete the session and adjourn failed late last evening when through Parliamentary devices some "insurgents" succeeded in postponing the recess until Monday. From 0 a.m. yesterday until 11.30 p.m. both Houses were in continuous session and passed dozens of bills in their haste to" finish the work. The huge Appropriation Bill, providing more than 1,500,000,000 dollars, for relief, including 500,000 for drought sufferers, was pushed through, as wa-s the recently-drafted Labour legislation giving the President power to create boards to arbitrate on industrial disputes. A bill to finance wide-scale home construction and renovation was ready to be passed, but tho coming recess has blocked- it.
