AUCKLAND MEETING. THE FINAL TRIALS. PETER PIRATE PLEASES. The course proper was open at Epson this morning, and horses with engage nienta at the Auckland Trotting Ciub'i winter meeting were allotted fast worl on the grass. . The track was in goot order for this time of the year. i Chenwood was first out, and he was allotted a mile and a half, registering 3.54 the last half-mile in 1.13. He was pacing comfortably throughout. Wee Parrish and Indian Author were companions over a mile and a quarter Indian Author being half a length ir front at the finish. She recorded 3.14 the last half-mile in 1.18. Wee Parrisl: was standing her up 3s over the lasl half mile, and registered 1.15 1-5. Nelson Glory and Singing Bird wenl away 4s in front of Mr. Penalty at the start of a mile and a half, but after going once round Nelson Glory broke and wa« pulled up. Singing Bird was in front to the straight, but Mr. Penalty finished the better, and was a length ahead at the post. Mr. Penalty went 3.55, and Singine Bird 3.59 4-5. Tempest was not doing hie best when sent along over a mile and a half in 3.50, the last half-mile taking 1.14. Moko girl accompanied him, and registered 3.52. Autumn Lu and Munga Tangi stood Nelson' Pirate and Nelson Glory up 3s over a mile and a half, but Nelson Glory again broke up badly. Trotting in line style, Nelson Pirate finished half a length in front of Munga Tangi, with Autumn Lu in close attendance. Nelson Pirate recorded 4.0, the last half-mile in 1.16, while Munga Tangi registered 3.57.1-5. Free Logan (unhoppled) went away 2s in front of Peter Pirate from the mile and a half post, Peter Pirate finishing well in front in 3.42 2-5, the last half-mile in 1.14 3-5. Peter Pirate revelled in the going, and went really well. Realty was in front of Smooger. in a mile and a quarter task. Realty's time being 3.5, the last half-mile in 1.9. Grey Mist, Max Havoc and Red Hope went away 3s before Compass in an essay over a mile "and a quarter, Red Hope being half a length in front of Max Havoc, with Compass a length away at the finish. Red Hope paced the journey in 3.7 4-5, while Max Havoc registered 3.8 2-5. Compass, who was not pressed at any stage, ran 3.9 1-5.
