LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
THIRD REMUERA. P. D. Wright presided over the meeting of the Third Remuera branch of the League of Mothcre. Mrs. gave the thought for the month. Miss London spoko on the "Adolescent Girl," stating that physical education produced the ideal of the sound mind in the Bound body. She asked parents to co-operate with the schools. She spoke about the modern taste in literature. Culture was the high ideal and aim of their education —to teach a of appreciation — a way of living with a correct idea of values. The meeting was the annual gift day, on which members brought gifts for mothers and babies of St. Helens. There was a very generous and spontaneous response. Mre. Meek sang, accompanied by Mrs. Kidson. PONSONBY. This month, the Ponsonby branch. Auckland, had as guests the* members of All Saints' Mother*' Union and St. John's Methodist Women's Guild. Mrs. English, president, read an outline of the address given by the Rev. Frank De Lisle at the recent oflicers , conference. Mrs. Harold King gave an address on "The. Maori," her talk being interspersed with Maori "laments,' , "lullabies," and poi songs. The thought for the month was "Keep your face to the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind." CITY. The monthly meeting of the City branch of the League of Mothers was held hist week, in the Airedale Street Mission Hall. Mre. P. A. Lindsay, president, occupied the. chair. Mrs. Kenneth Gordon gave a short sketch from "The Old Curiosity Shop," by Charles Dickens. A musical programme wis given by Mrs. Quigley, Miss Nancy Ciillnore and Miss Oliphant.
