The Court of Appeal gave judgment to-day in tho case, Filllaysofl v. the Minister of Public Works. The case, which was heard on April 13 last, involved the question whether betterment could be deducted from a claim for compensation under tho Public Works Act. The Court held that, in view k>t the indefinite abandonment of the construction of the railway track at Dargaville no claim for betterment was justified, and judgment was given in favour of the claimant, Mrs. Ffnlayson.
